Detroit mortgage broker Mark Unger adored his wife Florence and their two young sons. But after a decade of marriage and increasing financial trouble, Mark's life began to slowly unravel. He became addicted to pain killers and gambling, and ended up spending five months in rehab.
Forced to go back to work, Flo became bitter and resentful of Mark and began to have an affair with one of his friends. When Mark returned home and his disability checks weren't enough to make ends meet Flo filed for divorce.
Panicked by the thought losing her, Mark did everything he could to win Flo back. Even though she resisted his efforts, Flo did agree to a weekend getaway at the family's favorite lakeside resort. But after their first night there, Flo went missing…and the next day her corpse was found floating in the water. Mark claimed that her death was an accident―one that must have happened while he was up at the cottage, putting the kids to sleep. But soon a jury would be convinced of what Flo's friends and family believed to be true: That Flo would never have been alone on the boat dock that night because she was deathly AFRAID OF THE DARK.

A Not-Up-To-Par True Crime Tale
By Betsy Pascucci
I read a lot of true crime and have my favorite authors. This is the first book I've read by Tom Henderson and I must say I was disappointed at the dry, unemotional way he related this story. After all, this was a juicy tale. He sort of narrowed it down to its bare bones, then spent way too much time telling us about the prosecutor, the defense attorney, the cases they'd been involved in, etc. Who cares about all these other cases? And why were they related to us in such detail? There was more than enough meat to deal with in this case. Why didn't Henderson manage to tap into it? Could have been/should have been a whole lot better.

slow read
By True Crime Fan
I was very excited to read this book and very disapointed when I did. It had the potential to be a great read but the author for more then half the book writes the trial transcripts. The book only repeats what the first half of it already tells you.
If I wanted to read the transcripts I would go to the courthouse!!!

Disappointed is not strong enough
By Kristie Moffett
I read a lot of books; usually a few per week. More than 1/2 of which are true crime. However, this is the first book by Tom Henderson that I have read and also my first online review. I feel that strongly about this book.
I am only 1/2 way through the book and am not sure, at this point, if I will even finish. I should have known when at the first of the book the author thorows around so many names that it is hard to keep them straight. This seems to be a common theme. There are what feels like 1000's of unnecessary names strewn throughout the book that have very little substance. He also switches back and forth referring to them by first name then only sir name. I find myself looking back through the book just to remember who they are. Tom Henderson also seems to get off of the subject easily. There are pages and pages of stories about past cases for prosecuters that have absolutly no relevance. Why are they here? There should be plenty of filler without this nonsense. I would avoid this book.
